nah NBA ratings are kind of misleading because everyone watches a couple games and ignores 95% of the rest
On regional channels, baseball ratings kill NBA ratings despite there being twice as many games and them being broadcasted when there are more things to do (summer)

Stop coping and use your brain. None of those sports are going to sign TV deals anywhere near there deal that the nba will get

NHL is a regional sport and this number is probably dragged down by the sun belt markets.

I bet in its core (northeast and obviously Canada) its significantly higher than the NBA.

Yeah, foreigners greatly overestimate how popular NBA is here, which is completely understandable given the amount of media attention it gets.

The teams are mostly afterthoughts in their own city, afterthoughts to NFL teams, MLB teams, NHL teams, college sports teams. There's very few exceptions to this, not sure there are any exceptions outside of California. I guess Memphis/OKC where the NBA team is the only pro team.

Here in Charlotte where I am, I see way more about the 2 year old MLS team than the NBA team.

Yes of course, nobody has ever watched it which is why its about to sign over six billion in annual television deals, 3x MLB.

For Games 1, 2 and 3, 2023 Stanley Cup Panthers-Hurricanes games on TNT drew local ratings of 2.51, 2.55 and 3.09. At the same time, Games 1-4 of the Heat-Celtics series on TNT drew ratings of 8.3, 8.45, 11.66 and 11.72.

MLB's overall national media rights agreements, which include a $729 million-per-year deal with Fox, $560 million with ESPN, $535 million with Warner Bros. Discovery, and $85 million with Apple.

That adds up to 1.9 billion which is less than the 2.6 billion that the NBA makes currently, even before its next new deal which will double in value and make the NBAs revenue far exceed MLB.

Baseball fans don't collect as much food stamps and welfare checks as NBA fans do, goyslop is the number one advertiser, so the NBA's TV rights are worth more.

Coping is the process of managing, adapting to, or dealing with difficult situations or emotions. People cope in various ways, such as seeking support from friends or family, engaging in activities they enjoy, practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques, or seeking professional help if needed. Coping strategies can vary depending on the individual and the situation they are facing. It's important to find healthy coping mechanisms that work for you and to remember that it's okay to ask for help when needed.

Baseball since the beginning of this century has become highly regionalized; most baseball fans are fans of their team and only having a passing interest in the game outside of them. Also Sunday Night Baseball has been shit ever since Miller and Morgan left the booth and let women in (Jessica Mendoza FRICKING SUCKS). So that's why the NBA and MLB are going opposite directions.

tl;dr The NBA's fans are more willing to watch games for player vs player matchups in national games, MLB's fans will just watch their team during the season hence higher ratings than NHL and NBA in their shared markets.

The point is that overall, NBA > MLB.

There is no other thing other then the objective fact that all of the major media companies which make money off of viewership value the NBA much more as an intellectual property then the MLB

Except you're just ignoring the fact that local ratings (aka what most NBA games are measured by because most games aren't on national TV with a LeBron vs Curry matchup) are lower than MLB which has been shown multiple times to be true, so not sure how that correlates to "overall" the NBA being more watched in the U.S. And this is all stupid to argue about anyway because football blows out everything in ratings.

Now you’re coping by bringing up football.
Obviously, your statements on popularity could not be true otherwise the networks would prioritize and financially pay more for baseball over basketball, but they clearly unwilling to do so, so you’re obviously wrong.

NBA fans are moronic and advertisers know it, so they pay a lot of money to air their doordash ad during the game.

But also, you're using only national broadcast, not including RSN rights, which is a substantial chunk of MLB's revenue. Overall, MLB teams have higher average revenue, despite the NBA's significantly higher popularity outside the USA

NBA is firmly behind NFL, College Football and MLB. There's honestly a solid case to be made that College Basketball is actually ahead of the NBA, its postseason is more popular at least.

I guess if you combine College Basketball and NBA then basketball is the second most watched sport, but the audiences of the two don't actually overlap that much. College Basketball rules are more similar to FIBA than they are to NBA, though still distinct from both.
