The One and Only NBA GOAT

Now that reasonable folks are questioning whether or not Lebron is even as good as Curry, it's time that we once and for all acknowledge that Jordan is absolutely, unquestionably, the GOAT.

Montana was a better QB playing in an era where defense was allowed (though he didn't have the longevity). Argument to be made for Marino as well though he lacks the rings.

Cut Brady’s resume in half and you have Montana’s. And he did it with a salary cap.

When the lights were brightest, he always performed. He never threw an interception in the Super Bowl. can't say the same for Brady who laughably put up 10 points in a SB against one of, if not the worst team to ever make the Owl. Utterly embarrassing. Montana was a true champion. Never suspended and was not involved in multiple cheating scandals. Brady was a good player but he's more akin to Bill Russell than he is Jordan.

            Anonymous

He only made it to four owls. That’s pathetic. And Brady has never put up less than 13 points in a playoff game. Can you say that for Montana? Of course not, Montana put up 3 points in the playoffs back to back. He just wasn’t much of a winner.

            Anonymous

For me if it weren't for Brady then it would have to be Montana but

Cut Brady’s resume in half and you have Montana’s. And he did it with a salary cap.

has a point about the salary cap. The pre-cap Niners and Cowboys were like the NFL equivalent of the Yankees and Red Sox. If they wanted somebody, they just spent what it took. Not that I'm complaining, the Eddie D. days were the best.

Marino is a legend but you can't be in the GOAT conversation with zero rings

PERSONALLY suspended for working with NFL staff to frick with equipment AND his team got caught 100000 times and the evidence was so bad that the commissioner had to burn it all before coming out and lying through his teeth that it was totally innocuous
I honestly just throw out the entire Goodell era out the window like I do Stern and Manfred. They're just too obvious with their rigging

The reason Brady has such longevity is belichicks defense + the NFL protecting the QB more over the years

The reason Belichick was able to spend all the cap space and picks on defense is because Brady ran the offense throwing to undrafted white midgets.

Why do people still put Wilt and Bill on the top 10 of all time list when they played in an era with single digit teams, no three point line and the average player was as good as a decent high school prospect is today?

It's hardly even the same sport without the 3 point line

Michael Jordan was a shooting guard whose role on his team was volume scorer and perimeter defender. If there was ever such a thing as a GOAT player, I cannot see it being Jordan. Of course he is evaluated primarily by his six championships and six Finals MVPs, both of which you cannot get if your team isn't good enough to reach the Finals to begin with. And he got these accolades in the 1990s, an era where your team really only needed a single Hall of Fame player to contend for a title. His matchups at the shooting guard position were very underwhelming throughout this decade. And plus Jordan played the same role in the same coaching system ran by the same teammate led by the same head coach for the same team with rosters created by the same general manager, and he was incredibly unsuccessful outside of this environment. I cannot see him as the GOAT player if I were to choose one.

      Anonymous

Who would you choose? The only real argument I can see is Kareem.

Jordan's case is him vs that eras centers. He is competing with Ewing, Shaq, Olajuwon, Robinson, Mutombo. Pretty weird most of his finals matches lacks a HoF center.

19 years and people still don't realize that LeBron is not only faster, but considerably stronger than the vast majority of 90s players.

Jordan is the goat, Lebron wouldn't even be able to survive in the 80's and 90's, he'd get benched for being a b***h in the pre-season and get traded to some shit startup team and ride the bench there. I can't believe this is even a thread.
John Stockton would push Lebrons shit in. Imagine what Rodman would do lol. Todays NBA is for gays, single mother babies from pot smoking prostitutes. Not the same shit frick off.

In fact during LeBron's prime, league average weight was 10 pounds higher than the 80s and 90s. Players were literally the heaviest ever, when LeBron came running at them. 223lb league average. No defender was actually equipped to deal with him besides Kawhi Leonard. The rest will either foul him or get run over and not even get the charge called because LeBron was going too fast for their feet to be set.

Give Jordan his flowers, but LeBron is going to feast in his era too. People need to stop kicking and screaming at the truth.
