The new one is rounder and fatter so the crown looks tiny and ridiculous and the club initials look like an afterthought instead of something central like in the old one. The old one looks way better (still worse than the one with the laurel)

Don't pretend this is some kind of isolated incident, or other badges/logos are merely regressing to classic designs, either. This is likely in part to do with technology, with more limited technology/funds leading to less detailed badges in the past, and in the present badges are displayed in media often at a small size so they benfit from simpler designs. One of these had a just reason for making the irl badges look simple, the other is choosing an appeal to plastics fans over the real fans

Even if its a callback to the original logo, the history of the city and its followers of the civil war and the dictatorship is erased because it is seen as unfavourable for marketing to display symbols of martial history.
1970 is the best one. The black outline really compliments it (but is not drawn on the leaves which make them look 10x better than on the 1998 one), also it doesnt have the ugly ass logo on the purple patch.
