NBC doesn’t want the NBA. They want it to advertise their own slop to people who would never watch NBC.

Kek. TNT isn’t going to use it’s apehoop money on gay, bush-leagues wrestling.

Losing the NBA would cost TNT at least $800m/yr in carriage fees, a catastrophe for TNT.

CTRL-F Carriage is basically all you need to do to see if anyone has any idea what the hell they're talking about. Great comment, Anon.

If TNT loses NBA, they don't have more budget for other things, they have less as they are losing a shitload of money through things like all their biggest advertisers leaving them, their channel ranking and average viewership going way down, and not being able to charge as much or get new customers.

      Anonymous

exactly, if NBA leaves TNT then the whole channel collapses, might as well be TruTV2 if that happens and that would be terrible news for AEW

AEWtists don't understand this because they're unemployed, fat and stupid.

Unless they want to start talking baseball, it's over for the gang. Chuck is pretty much ride or die with Ernie and said he wouldn't join NBC because of his desire to stay with Turner.

Won't happen but that would be kino. Baseball needs some fricking storylines and drama added, they have some of the GOATS playing but still quarter full stadiums because it's just heatless games over and over.

NBC had the NBA in the 90s. Maybe they’ll bring back ancient Ahmad, Costas, and Vessay lol

yeah so tnt is pretty much dead after this. I guess they still have hockey. but that doesn't draw like the nba.

Ernie, Kenny, Chuck and Shaq are why people watch the NBA on TNT. I doubt NBC could pull the same numbers without them in the deal.

If NBC willing to pay several billion dollars for an NBA package, I'm fairly confident they could afford to pay $10,000,000/year or more each for Magic Johnson, Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, anyone they want.

NBC Universal is not struggling to pay their debts, that's why they stole Smackdown from Lachlan The Peasant who couldn't afford the renewal fee

I believe these are the first steps in television truly truly truly dying and them preparing to hang on for as long as they can. The only television today that draws any ratings whatsoever are sports and the news I suppose...all of these super big time networks are gonna fight tooth and nail with one another for sports programming since it's the only form of television that still draws despite it doing absolutely horribly compared to the old days. Esg World economic forum tv shows like AEW are just not gonna cut it anymore. I say by 2040 television would have gone back to less than 10 channels...by 2070 television will be completely dead after decades upon decades of collapse.

the truth is that even inside the nba is just a vehicle to sell ads. if charles barkley doesnt have anything to say then that show is wallpaper. kenny fricking sucks, ernie sucks, shaq is just there. charles is the show and the reason they get so many eyeballs

    >if TNT loses the NBA it means less money for AEW since viewership plummets
    >if TNT keeps the NBA it means less money for AEW because WBD forked up a mountain of cash for the NBA
No wonder Tony is expanding his options, should've done it much earlier instead of being fiercely loyal to WBD up until this whole kerfuffle. I bet he's still kicking himself over not getting ROH on The CW because he wanted to keep his wrestling business under the Warner umbrella.
