People shit on NXT 2.0, but the last 2-3 years of NXT Black and Gold was so fricking godawful that I wonder what people were watching when they cried that it ended.
Boring as shit, everyone was a tweener, everyone was in black leather jackets, the mat was black, the lights were dim, that stupid skull NXT logo, 50 minute overindulgent shitfest matches, Karrion Kross and Rachel Gonzalez as champs.
It fricking sucked. NXT 2.0 sucked, but at least it was fun and you still got good matches on occasion.
>the last 2-3 years of NXT Black and Gold was so fricking godawful
I love 2.0 but this is total historical revisionism. It was consistently the best wrestling show on TV with excellent matches. The very end got a little weird when Samoa Joe coming back and beating Kross, then instantly vacating the belt and getting fired again. But that aside it was very good all the way.
>I love 2.0 but this is total historical revisionism
No, I thought this at the time.
I was sick and tired of watching a show in a pitch black basement while HHH books everyone to basically be a different variation of himself from 2007 and having everyone reenact in the every main event match reenact Him vs Shawn from Bad Blood 2004
I just looked at the card for Takeover 36, the final Takeover of the black and gold era. First match was Cameron Grimes vs LA Knight, the blowoff to their extremely entertaining feud. That whole series of matches was wrestling at its best.
Then it was Raquel vs her former friend Dakota Kai. That one had some build to it. I don't remember anything spectacular but I'm sure it was fine.
Then Ilja beat Gunther in one of the greatest matches of all time. Masterpiece.
Then it was Kyle O'Reilly against Adam Cole in their two out of three falls match. This was another blowoff to a long feud, and it did its job. Wasn't as good as the last match but nothing could be.
And then it ended with Samoa Joe and Kross. I don't get the hate here for Kross. I thought he was a good champion and it was a good match. Shame it didn't go anywhere.
Overall it was an excellent show.

THAT FRICKING MATCH WAS HORRID.
I'll give you the rest of the card, but frick off if you're trying to argue that selfmastubatory bullshit was good.

I don't remember it that well. I know they brought out trash cans and stuff. I remember thinking the more gimmicky violence couldn't match the pure brutality of what Gunther did to Ilja's chest. But I didn't hate it, at least from what I remember. And I really did like the build in the storyline leading up to it.
Still overall it was a great show. Especially Knight/Grimes, and Gunther/Ilja. The first match is basically sports entertainment perfected in my eyes. And the second is still to this day one of the greatest pure wrestling matches I've ever seen. So to say the show was terrible in that era just isn't true. The very last show of that era had so many excellent moments.

JESUS FRICK
Was H completely delusional due to heart issues back then?
They fired the other 2, kept the one in the middle, and made him team with Elias because something about Elias' music helped with his PTSD or something, they then had 2 bad matches and he basically disappeared.
Steve Maclin would end up having a great run in TNA.
The best part is the cut to these two in the crowd where Henry is reacting like he watched MLK get assassinated a second time and Goldberg is secretly loving it
Disgusting display of recency and smark bias. It's the exact same product you moron. Nothing has changed. It's still unwatchable just like it's been since these homosexual smarks killed wrestling for good with their Semen Punk in 2011
Thunderdome
>corbin and roman throwing shit on each other
>slpajack
>THE BIG DOG

i miss vince so fricking much
The only difference is that they fired Corbin and brought up Lars Sullivan, Lacey Evans, EC3, Heavy Machinery and Nikki Cross.
That weird era where they pushed Roman down to the midcard to a few months.

That's team Hogan getting ready to kick butt in Saudi Arabia, brother Jack dude!

NXT 2.0 was kino. And I liked Nikki ASH.

WWE dragging out geriatric Rock and Austin to sell WM
I'm really happy that WWE went away from the whole "if a match is long, it's automatically good" thing.
2018-2021 WWE were peak dogshit kino
Lowest point I would say had to be from 2001 to 2025.
smackdown dog or the egg
Fiend vs Seff is the rock bottom low for morale. Few months prior the Seff/Becky mixed tag is probably lowest quality

Can anything beat Alexa Bliss attacking Randy Orton with magic fireballs and almost crushing him via telekinesis?
imo the absolute lowest point of this era of wwe was when drake maverick was paired with aop and pissed himself and also pissed on bobby roode
