Its honestly amazing how quickly they've tailspun. Back in January they were still within 80-100k of getting the milly. They've somehow managed to turn away almost 1/4th of their audience in 3 months, and its still dropping more and more each week. They may genuinely be getting 500k by the end of the year

is the reason just because people would rather watch wwe now?

        Anonymous

No, because WWE's ratings aren't going up in comparison outside of the usual pre mania surge. Whoever was watching AEW is just dropping it entirely in the same way when WCW died and everyone expected all their fans to bump up the cratering ratings of the WWF, but instead they all just fricked off.
It'd actually be a better sign if they were switching over to WWE, because it would mean you could get them back with a better product. All it shows now is that like 250k people have said "frick AEW this shit sucks im done"

Maybe it's partly because the guys who have been around since the beginning of AEW that the audience likes (Kenny, Darby, Hangman and MJF) are out and have been replaced at the moment by Okada, Ospreay (wrestlers that only the most hardcore fans recognize) and Moné (that no one gives a frick about).

The CM Punk footage was the final nail in AEW's coffin. It has officially become the lolcow promotion much like LOLTNA at its worst. People feel embarrassed to watch it now. It's about to lose its TV deal. There's nothing anyone can do to fix this mess because it's gone beyond the point of no return. Owari da.

This. I stopped watching after the Punk “fight” footage aired. Used to watch all three shows weekly.

Casual audiences who make up the majority of the viewership don't care about smark and Meltzer shit.
I don't know why this needs to be explained again. It's been the same for 40 years. The wrestling bubble is the worst thing that's ever happened to the industry

Neither of these things made people want to tune in to the TV show. Tony can book all the PPV dream matches he wants, but his TV will continue to decline if the booking isn't designed to generate interest in seeing what's happening next show.

That's what the injury angle is supposed to be doing. We'll see next week if him LARPing as injured on the NFL draft tonight will translated into ratings for next Wednesday.

    Meltzer bangers don't actually draw

Bangers in general don't mean much if there's no story or strong characters going in and coming out of of it. I would argue having epic matches for the sake of them hurt in the long run as everyone becomes numb to them and they are not special

it wasnt moty, it was called moat. and that still meant diddly squat for ratings.

The TV has no intrigue, no real reason to watch. Tony doesn't understand that just putting on dream matches isn't how you remedy this, you need to actually build characters and motivations before your PPVs.
