they're being silly gooses and probably don't even carry a gun either, because a gun is a martial art
you need to practice with it just like the swordsmen of antiquity needed to
when you're practicing your draw and dry firing you're doing a gun kata
you need to run drills and throw rounds down range because you can't miss fast enough to win a gun fight
also importantly you need to have at least a sub 2 second draw to first shot or your gun is just a melee weapon with a noise maker attached
and lemme tell ya sport, if you don't have a draw thats both fast and accurate you better know how to wrassle because you just introduced a gun into the situation and the other guys hands are already on it
A gun is great to de-escalate a situation but terrible for self-defense
You'll scare off 99% of possible attackers by flashing your gun, but if someone is actively attacking you, a gun is no better than a knife. Life isn't a Clint Eastwood movie where you quick draw and drop the guy in one shot, if you have reason to shoot somebody, it means he's already on top of you. Guns are made to shoot things far away, not someone on your face.
Don’t ever post anything related to firearms or self defense again. If you have guns turn them in before you get yourself killed or arrested.
This.
You have never even held a gun before in your life.
>A gun is great to de-escalate a situation but terrible for self-defense
A gun ESCALATES the situation. The moment you draw a firearm, you're goal is to kill, not to scare people you fricking moron. The rules of firearm safety specify - do NOT aim your gun at anything you're not willing to destroy.
If you bring a gun out, even in a self defense situation, the other fricker can and will do the same if given the opportunity.
>You'll scare off 99% of possible attackers by flashing your gun
Attackers are violent, irrational creatures. You have never held a gun before, I can tell by you saying this.
>Life isn't a Clint Eastwood movie where you quick draw and drop the guy in one shot
Who says you shoot the guy once? If you're at the point in an attack where you're goal is to kill, you unload your fricking clip and make sure nobody else is on your ass. The fact that you're saying this is irrefutable proof you've never held a gun in your life.
>You'll scare off 99% of possible attackers by flashing your gun
ehehheh hhhahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
Fatties want to believe they’re superior without putting in any effort. It’s no different from the morons who say
>heh, so you think you can beat me cuz ur a boxer? Well what will you do when I bite you
As if no heavyweight champion boxer ever bit a motherfrickers ear off.
It's a cope.
If someone who knows extensive martial arts has a gun pointed at their head, they'll fight to take it. Unless the gun is standing 20 feet away or is behind you and executing you, the gun is no better than them.
Absolutely moronic statement, I can pull the trigger waster than you can move your arm.
Pull the trigger at what? Inside your pant leg?
But can you pull the trigger faster than I can slip to the side while moving my arm to parry yours, factoring in reaction time? Probably not
Lmfao, Mac is that you?

If its within arms length, what I said is absolutely true. Are people in general really going to aim for the head if they're in safe drawing distance? They'll aim for center of mass
Stop watching Detroit urban survival before you get yourself killed
idk, never watched that guy. I know he got punked by sean strickland trying to do whatever it was
By the time you've thought to counter my parry, I've already moved into your personal space, and you might only have a 50/50 chance of getting a shot off
If I turn my drawing side away, and use my off hand to parry your parry, I can attack from a "bow and arrow" stance and you'll be cooked
Clears hand, hugs around body pinning far side arm, tani otoshi to the ground and landing in top position in your path :^)
I have a question as a nogunz here,
How the frick can you walk around, run around, move or work with anything when you have a handgun on a side of your body? Seems kind of like a b***h to do anything until the 1 possible situation you may ever use it comes around.
Sub compact carried appendix with loose fitting clothes
Yes it's uncomfortable but most CCW guys are obese anyway so it sits under their gut flap
>Yes it's uncomfortable but most CCW guys are obese anyway so it sits under their gut flap
It's fairly comfortable if you're not fat and have the right holster setup. It's easier for fat guys to carry on the hip or the small of their back.
Holster? I just tuck in the back of my belt
There are guns made smaller specifically for concealed carry purposes it’s not hard at all. 90% of the time I keep a snub nose .38 in my front pocket which makes it even easier.
I don't go to the bad neighborhoods and am bigger then most guys.
I am pretty competent with a firearm but do not see the need to carry it around, and don't want to kill people.
Since in my mind it's a last resort, and if I am drawing I or the one I need to kill is dead.
Honestly training to run would be more useful, since then I could out run the opponent and get home.
Most who carry have a smol gun as others posted. A slim gun like a 1911 or other single stacks won't print if you wear a bigger coat/are fat+loose clothing, or have an odd holster. Last decade there has been a proliferation of equipment, firearms, and training for CCW

>A slim gun like a 1911 or other single stacks won't print if you wear a bigger coat/are fat+loose clothing
It's 2024. We have sub-compact 9mm wonder weapons that are slightly bigger than an average male's hand that can hold 15 rounds and smaller in width than a single stack 1911. It's ridiculous.
It's easier and more comfortable to carry a gun in a secure holster than a large modern smartphone in your pocket. Inside-the-waistband holsters keep the gun very out of the way but still easy to draw. Outside-the-waistband holsters vary based on the activity they're meant for--competition holsters stick out a lot so your body doesn't get in the way of a fast draw but concealment holsters hug your body closely.
>Why is this moronic statement so frequently used?
Because people are idiots. Dunning-Kruger effect on display. Anyone saying this has not fully considered the issue. Look into Craig Douglas and Shivworks for a really interesting look at the intersection of empty handed skills and weapons craft.
Say what you will about Icy Mike, but he actually does a pretty good job of running down the Shivworks courses he's attended:
