There are tons of athletes you could say the same for. Shit, the majority of martial artists do not compete in full contact sports, why? Well the main reasons I have heard are either because they really but into the philosophy behind most traditional martial arts and do not believe fighting for money/sport is right. Everyone else doesn't feel like gambling with their health for the off chance they'll excel in a combat sport. Then there is a whole other group, the conspiracy theorists, who are pretty sure that just about any and all pro fighting venues are about as fixed as wrestling.
