I unironically think klopp fell for all the memes when people complained that their midfield wasn't flashy enough. Their best 'big game' side was Wijnaldum, Fabino, Henderson or sub in milner for one of the 8s. All three midfielders contribute heavily to the press which covered for the attacking fullbacks and helped make the front line press more effective. The minute they let Wijnaldum go, the side lost its teeth. Potential replacements like Keita didn't work out and neither did the luxury players they tried to bring in to have a different type of attack that could control possession and unlock a low block like Minamino and Thiago. I think his best 4-3-3 XI at Liverpool was the best side in the world for a single knockout tie or whatever and better than what Manchester city can put out but not as sustainable over a whole season against all types of competition.
