>Soon afterwards, Stanley purchased what is frequently described as a decorative punch bowl, but which silver expert John Culme identified as a rose bowl,[15] made in Sheffield, England, and sold by London silversmith G. R. Collis and Company (now Boodle and Dunthorne israeliteellers), for ten guineas, equal to ten and a half pounds sterling, US$48.67, which is equal to $1,650 in 2023 dollars.
ice hockey seems like a sport that should be popular there

Why do you say that? Our climate is very temperate compared to places like Finland, Russia, Canada, Sweden and the northern states of the US. Very little ice or snow.

You should still be able to afford building enough ice rinks. It’s not like the average game is on a frozen pond. And even if it doesn’t outright freeze, the climate seems gray enough that you’d want to get away from it indoors anyway.
The key to a trophy's aesthetic is not how it sits in a pedestal or behind glass, but how good it looks while hoisted. That’s why those without side handles are the best, since those that do are all held practically the same way. Shoving a Lombardi through the air by the neck or circling the ice with the Stanley Cup over your head just hits differently. The Commissioner's Trophy looks best from the top of a bus while the O'Brien, though the weakest, looks pretty cozy cradled with arms wrapped around in the locker room.
>do you want to live your seven figure lifestyle in Florida/Vegas or Edmonton/Winnipeg and still a noticeable amount more
even my forever flyover ass is choosing the former
Lombardi is the weakest imo. That's the kind of trophy that should go to the mvp, a bunch of 300 lb men should get something more substantial to hoist.
all of those trophies are shit besides the stanley cup which is steeped in history and is pure kino
if you want to ignore the physical trophy and consider the prestige of the title, world series > stanley cup > super bowl > literal dog shit > nba
NBA trophy is the weakest of the bunch
Stanley Cup is the ugliest piece of shit I've seen in my entire life. Rest are nice though.
Funny considering it was originally commissioned by an Englishmen. Lord Stanley, whom I understand has a park in Liverpool.
I have no interest in hockey but the Stanley Cup is great. Making it frickhuge and inscribing the list of every winner ever is kino.
I like the trophy you get for winning The Masters
Frick that's nice.
The two on the left look cheap as frick
The Stanley Cup is English.

>made in Sheffield
based
Hockey used to be pretty big over here before Britain became an impoverished country after WW2.
Sheffield too

Stanlee cup is the only SOVL of the bunch, the rest look generic.
Behold, the worst 'big' trophy ever
zero sovl
CFB championship trophy went from first to worst

wnba trophy looks better than the one of NBA
No
>Most valuable period.
Sputnik looking motherfrickers
>boob on a stick
>ball and garbage can
>"a piece of metal"
>The Cup
I genuinely don't understand how it's been over 30 years since a Canadian team last won the Stanley Cup.

>still
still get taxed
The old NCAA football trophy easily mogged all of these besides Lord Stanley's Cup.
I honestly don't like the Stanley cup either even if I acknowledge it's iconic.
The others are OK, 3rd one is best. They don't strike me as particularly AESTHETIC
Maybe biased because leaf but something about having every name engraved on the cup gives it so much more SOVL
i always prefer trophies with the history on them. only bad thing with all the names is eventually the oldgay teams have to come off
